Dragons have long haunted the imagination of the Western world. From antiquity through the Middle Ages – and beyond – these mythical beasts have filled manuscripts and early printed books, often as fearsome creatures vanquished by legendary heroes.
Among them is Jason of Iolcos, who, to reclaim his rightful throne from his usurping uncle Pelias, embarks on a perilous quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece of Colchis.
This eight-page booklet, printed with woodcuts and letterpress, presents an adaptation of the chapters detailing the slaying of the dragon and the conquest of the Golden Fleece from The History of Jason, first translated from the French and printed by William Caxton in 1477.
The Here Be Dragons booklets can be collected and bound into a single volume.
